Pet-friendly holiday rentals in Island of Ortigia

I highly recommend this apartment in the heart of Ortigia, a stone's throw from the market and the island's main tourist attractions. The ancient theater and archaeological area are slightly further away, but still within walking distance. In the surrounding area, you can find popular restaurants of remarkable quality. The neighborhood is entirely pedestrian, being an ancient Arab medina. The apartment is modern and functional, very cool and airy, with a large terrace without vis-à-vis. Wi-Fi works perfectly, it is a very convenient base for exploring the city. The host is extremely responsive, reachable on WhatsApp and on the platform, for any urgent or non-urgent need.

Giuseppe’s villa is beautiful, tastefully decorated and very spacious. The variety of outdoor seating areas were lovely for enjoying the sun at different periods of the day. The pool was superb, beautiful and clean. The villa is 10 minutes drive from Syracuse and Ortigia, which have a huge variety of delicious restaurants and bars. The streets are beautiful to explore, especially in the evenings. The only downside to the villa was the area. Unfortunately, there are no pavements so walking anywhere is unsafe. Therefore, hiring a car is necessary. There is a bus, but it only passes 4 x daily. There are local restaurants to visit, but driving is required due to the roads, and at our time of visiting it was unclear whether these were open or not. Despite this, I would happily visit Giuseppe’s villa again without a doubt. Thank you for having us.

Lovely, friendly hosts who are very helpful and do their best to accommodate your needs and made everything so easy. The property is great value for money. The property was clean and felt like a home away from home. The kitchen is great has everything you need to cook meals, washing machine room also next to the kitchen which is great. The property is 20 minutes drive from loads of great beaches. Lovely outdoor area to eat and relax. Would definitely recommend.

We had a wonderful 4 day stay at Alessandro’s house with the beautiful garden and amazing views… our 4year old son loved the pool, the playground and- after some time- the big dog ;-) we would love to come back to this great host

Book with your eyes closed 👍We just spent 3 nights from 16 to 19 /10/2024, in Casa di Mauro , which totally matches the photos and descriptions. Ideally located near the temple of Apollo , we were quiet in this charming ultra clean, functional accommodation, equipped with everything that makes a place comfortable and above all tastefully decorated. The bedding is ultra comfortable . In addition , we enjoyed the warm welcome from our host, Maria . Thank you for his listening, his pro activity, his responsiveness and all his attention that brings the little more magical in the rental... water bottles and toilet products. Thank you also for his good tips and for the great places for lunch and dinner. All the ingredients were there to fully enjoy our stay in Syracuse in the heart of Ortigia and we felt in the accommodation very comfortable as home.…the experience delighted us and we will come back . Had an excellent weekend. Lovely food and very friendly people. Easy to get to from airport (by bus €6.20) short walk a few stairs some of which are very narrow in the studio. All very clean. The only slight problem were the sheets which didn’t stay on the bed. Thanks for the wonderful stay.

Very clean house and as described. The area is very quiet with easy walking. Salvatore is a wonderful person, kind and very helpful. If we have a chance, we will definitely come back. I recommend it to everyone

Silvia was an excellent host, always responsive and very helpful. We were able to find the villa with her instructions and she was there to greet us and say goodbye when we left. The villa was spotless and we loved the outdoor space with all its different seating areas and bbq. The house was well equipped with thoughtful touches. There were lots of little extras for our stay including clean towels, jams, treats and Prosecco. A great base for exploring Sicily’s south east. Highly recommend this stay.

Peppe is a super host and he made our stay very enjoyable. He was very diligent to our needs, gave us more than enough advice on what to see and eat and also what to do. I can’t recommend this place enough!

We just had the most fantastic 9 days at Andrea’s house with our two girls. Andrea very kindly met us at the house despite our delays. We were treated to the most delicious housewarming treat of ice creams. This is without a doubt the best house we have stayed it. I am meticulous when finding a house for our family holidays. It was spotless clean, very comfortable beds, the kitchen was well equipped and the pool and outside space was a dream. We hired a car for noto, Ortigia ( use Andreas parking recommendations and boat company for a tour, Marzanemi and Aqua-beach. Velo cafe is a great spot for a nice coffee, granite (kids loved them) and bakery. It was prefect time to go an average of 24 degrees and no crowds. This is going to be a very memorable holiday and are thanks go to Andrea for a prefect house and being so responsive throughout our trip. Xx

It is a beautiful house located on an old quarry. The house is partially built into the rock, which makes it a unique house. It was nice that there was an air conditioner in every bedroom and living room. The two bathrooms were clean and the shower was wonderful. Too bad the 2nd bathroom was on the ground floor. The kitchen is also a bit small but equipped with all comforts to cook a simple meal. The terrace with swimming pool offers a beautiful view. It's a house with lots of stairs. So you have to be on your feet to stay here.

Very nice accommodation with lots of space, 3 bedrooms with very good mattresses, a bathroom and a small bathroom in Extraraum in the garden, many terraces with lots of seating, 2 living rooms, the outdoor living room is particularly nice. The garden is great, has plenty of space to relax and play. The pool is wonderful. There are 6 loungers in the garden, you can lie directly under a palm tree. The pool is large and at night you can light it up. Each bedroom has a door to the outside, including the kitchen. The host recommended us great restaurants where you could eat very well and delicious. All questions were answered quickly and very kindly. He left us food when we arrived at night and made check-in possible at 1:30 am at night. We had a very nice time in your house!!!!! We will be happy to come back! I was there with 4 teenagers (14,16,16,18 years old), all of whom felt very comfortable and were greeted very warmly by the host. Thank you!

The place is absolutely amazing, high quality build and decorations in everything, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The pool is the best I have seen, including hotel pools, as it’s deep enough at one end (well over 2 meters) to jump in and has a spring board. Location is near a road but it’s well isolated enough that you can’t see the traffic and it’s quiet, just a beautiful retreat. The kitchen is very well equipped and has a big dining room. Hosts are perfect - very responsive when you need them, non intrusive when you don’t. You need a car, but location next to Siracuse is perfect with lots of beautiful places to visit nearby. We would definitely return!

This flat was so well located in the heart of the delightful island of Ortigia. It was always lovely to come ‘home.’ I stayed for a week and found that the apartment came well appointed with everything one might need - from kitchen utensils and dishes to hair dryer, iron and vacuum. Being on the third floor might mean you have to lug your suitcase up but the reward is being above the foot traffic of the street and having the lovely sunlight and airiness of a top floor. There was a small coop on a diagonal corner that has most kinds of food and household conveniences. The bed was comfortable and closets spacious. The bathroom is updated and has a small washing machine. There are many more details that make this place such good value not to mention the friendliness and responsiveness of Enrica’s communication. I hope to stay there again!

We had eight really wonderful days in the apartment! We can only recommend staying there and would love to come again! It's just like you can see in the photos. The rooftop terrace is completely private, and it's really lovely and a great luxury. The apartment is well decorated and has everything you need. And a big luxury to have a view of the water from the bath. The host was easy to communicate with and flexible. You have to be able to walk stairs to stay in the apartment. The location was also nice. Ortigia, 5 - 7 minutes down there. We arrived by train and the apartment is two-three minutes from the station, which was just perfect. We ate ice cream every day at a small local ice cream place located 200 meters from the apartment; Viola Gelateria.

Where to even begin, okay: hospitality. These guys make you feel at home straight away. They went above and beyond for our baby with toys and a bed, the fridge was filled, a pie was baked and they responded very quickly. Lovely apartment, not super huge but we didn’t need that. Great part of town: you can walk everywhere. Literally. Also thought the price was very decent. Don’t hesitate: book!

We had a lovely four nights , and knew it would likely be noisy because of being close to the market, but had not thought about the possibility of smells from restaurant’s air conditioning- we got used to that but I think I am especially sensitive to smells unfortunately! We found a wonderful swimming place five minutes walk away with rocks to sunbathe on and clear water protected from the open sea by large blocks under the sea.A very enjoyable stay improved by Anna’s suggestions , and providing swimming towels as well as extra bath towels during our stay. She also offered for us to stay Saturday late but unfortunately we had to get a plane at midday. Thank you Anna,

This was one of our favourite stays in Sicily. Comfy beds, blockout curtains. Fabulous kitchen with quality pans and necessities. Glamorous bathrooms. Excellent communication. Lovely gifts on arrival- including prosecco and sweet biscuits. Great location with easy parking but totally walkable to all the sites. Best location in Ortigia as it is hard to access by car and you would have to walk for ages with bags to other apartments. Host was absolutely delightful. Could not recommend more! Huge bedrooms and showers.

Host went out of her way to help us access the apartment as it seemed to us that the narrow road was for pedestrians only. She helped us carry our luggage up the street and up the stairs. Very responsive and helpful. We arrived early and were allowed to leave our luggage while Carlotta the lovely and helpful cleaning lady finished her work. We had a bit of an issue unlocking the door, but hosts responded quickly to help us out.

We had the most amazing stay at 'Flying Whales'. It was super easy to find and Leandro's mum, Rosy gave us great instructions for our arrival. She also left us some wine and goodies which was super thoughtful🥰 and even checked in with us by text during the holiday to check all was good. We absolutely loved our stay from start to finish and the icing on the cake is the amazing roof terrace with spectacular views. It's an amazing place to stay, right in the heart of beautiful Ortigia and we were sad to leave, but hoping to come and stay at your lovely apartment again.
